SimCity BuildIt vs. Elvenar – War of Fantasy Worlds
I’ve always been a fan of games that provide fun and enhance my creativity. So, I recently started exploring the best city-building games, and I was overwhelmed to see the long list this genre offers.
I was particularly looking for a blend of planning, beautiful graphics and immersive gameplay. During my research, two games that grabbed my attention were SimCity BuildIt and Elvenar.
Although both games were related to the same genre, city-building, both are unique in their features and style. So I had to choose one. Undoubtedly, selecting one game was not a piece of cake, well, not for me.
In this article, I will make a SimCity BuildIt vs. Elvenar comparison and discuss the factors that forced me to choose SimCity BuildIt over Elvenar.
SimCity BuildIt Vs. Elvenar
The Design – Fantasy vs. Reality
In my first interaction with both games, I noticed the critical difference between SimCity and Elvenar is their design.
SimCity BuildIt gave me real-world experience. I felt like I was managing my city, with tall buildings, roads and factories. What I enjoy the most is how everything is my responsibility, from managing resources to dealing with disasters and taking care of citizens’ needs.
Elvenar, on the other hand, is more like a fantasy world. The game lets you build a fantasy world with magical plants or use captivating workshops instead. So this game is perfect for those who want an escape from reality.
Winner: SimCity is the winner. Although fantasy worlds can be attractive, SimCity’s designs and challenges are more connected to the real world, giving me more immersive gameplay.

Resource Management
In SimCity, it is essential to manage resources efficiently. While I was playing this game, I had to constantly make sure that my city had availability of water, energy, raw materials for construction etc. If your city lacks enough resources, it will instantly disrupt your citizen’s life, so in this game, you always have to be on your toes to ensure the smooth working of your city.
In contrast, Elvaner is less intense when it comes to managing resources. In this fantasy world, you can collect magical goods to help your city progress. Unlike its counterpart, Elvenar doesn’t require constant attention to supply resources; you can move slowly. So this game is a good choice for those who want relaxing fun.
Winner: SimCity wins again. Although constant resource management can be intense sometimes, I enjoyed this feature because it gives me a feel of a real-world mayor whose decisions and actions matter.
Social Features – Competition vs Cooperation
SimCity lets you interact with players from all around the globe. You can join club wars, make teams and compete with enemy clubs. This sense of competitiveness excites me the most as these wars can win rewards, taking the fun to another level.
While Elvenar doesn’t allow this level of interaction, you can trade with other players only for cooperation and to help grow your cities. However, the game doesn’t include any exciting competitions like SimCity.
Winner: SimCity is the winner, undoubtedly. Because competitions with multiple players provide a more engaging experience, especially if you like to socialize during your gameplay.
Graphics -3D Vs 2D
SimCity is already the winner of this round. Its real-life 3D graphics, such as vehicles moving on the roads and vibrantly blue water running in the sea, provide an immersive experience that I forget about the surrounding world. This attention to detail provides a realistic feel of urban life, and the extraordinary visuals are the greatest asset of this game.
Elvenar, on the other hand, provides magical aesthetics. Everything is artful, whether it’s a shrine of enar or a magical residence. Overall, the game offers an attractive look that is more toward fantasy. So, it is best suited for people who want a relaxing gaming experience.
Winner: SimCity wins again. Elvenar’s beautiful aesthetic seems attractive but cannot beat SimCity’s realistic graphics, which are more engaging for players.
Economic System
With its unique Global Trade HQ, SimCity becomes a matchless city-building game. This trade center enables you to trade with other players globally, selling goods that exceed your city’s needs and warm in-game currency, Simoleons.
On the contrary, Elvenar uses diplomacy for the growth of your kingdom. Players can cooperate to promote trade, and you can also create partnerships with other kingdoms to be robust against enemy kingdoms.
Winner: SimCity wins here too. While Elvenar lets you interact with other players more for cooperation instead of competition, the level of interaction SimCity provides is matchless. I found the player-versus-player feature of SimCity very engaging and captivating.
Final Thoughts
After spending a lot of time in SimCity BuildIt vs. Elvenar, I discovered that both games have unique features. I can have a more realistic gameplay with SimCity’s realistic graphics, unlimited resources, and vast social interaction options. On the other hand, Elvenar attracts players who prefer fantasy graphics with slow-paced, relaxing gameplay.
So, for players like me who want excitement and the experience of designing a thriving city with more absorbing gameplay, SimCity BuildIt is the best choice.
